"I'm also troubled by, not what Senator McCain says, but what members of the party say, and it is permitted to be said. Such things as, 'Well, you know that Mr. Obama is a Muslim.' Well, the correct answer is 'He is not a Muslim, he's a Christian, he's always been a Christian.' But the really right answer is 'What if he is? Is there something wrong with being a Muslim in this country?' The answer is 'No, that's not America.' Is there something wrong with some 7-year old Muslim-American kid believing that he or she can be president? Yet I have heard senior members of my own party drop the suggestion he's a Muslim and he might be associated with terrorists. This is not the way we should be doing it in America."

I wholeheartedly agree. Cold hearted addiction to militant orthodoxy is hard work and middle class Americans, who just happen to be Muslim, have as much desire to become terrorists as you and I do. But yet there are lunatic Americans who remain convinced that all Muslims are cold heartedly addicted to militant orthodoxy...
Live and let live may not be an easily acquired taste, but as the generations deploy through the years, it does seem to percolate into the spirit.
i'm more worried about the 7 year olds being raised to be skin-heads and white supremists than muslims right now. and guess what? they're almost all a combo of crazy conservatives and crazy christians. it's a bad combo. sometimes we should worry about our home-grown white bread terrorists. i feel this is an issue when people chant "kill him" becuase obama is black, and many seemingly reasonable people don't get that sick feeling in their stomach form it. maybe the civil rights era just led to furhter intolerance making reason harder to achieve. i am so tired of being met with arguments as to why blacks aren't so great when i voice my concern about these hateful people. making a list of every black person full of fault when i voice real concern about violent racists begs the question and shows how ignorant the other person really is. the man has a right to be president if he's elected and because some jackass who happens to be black said or did something someone else didn't like, doesn't make statements like "kill him" okay. i'm scared that we're not so far form a lynching.
jilly
I totally blame the conservatives and their unholy alliance with the scary religious right. They intentionally got the wackjob sector all riled up to get some votes, and now they can't control them. Dangerous for all of us.
I find it disgusting when Sarah Palin is confronted by her "obama is a socialist" rally chant and she says "*I* didn't say that! Joe the plumber said it 'sunded like Socialism'" STOP HIDING BEHIND AN ASSHOLE PLUMBER AND DO YOUR OWN DIRTY WORK!
Fess up, Mavericks and Reformers, you throw out "socialism" and "Muslim" and Terrorist pal" hoping to incite fear. You crybaby assholes.
Uh huh. Like I said, they incite the unstable, and then make no attempt to take responsibility for the results. Disgusting.
