Reading

Emma's query about June on the Old Broards got me thinking about how long it's been since I was able to concentrate well enough to really enjoy reading. I think it's been months, maybe since before Christmas. I'm just in this jumpy, twitchy place where I can hardly even watch TV. I sit down, and then I immediately get back up. Maybe it's menopause?

Anyway, I have a big stack of books waiting for me, and I hoping that I will get some good quality reading in this summer. (But you can't force it. If you're in that no reading place, you just have to wait it out.)

I've had spells like that when there was no way I could concentrate on reading. For the past year, tho', I've spent the majority of my time with books probably as an escape and so I don't dwell on what I've lost.

Just be patient-this too will pass :)

LOL-my word verification is "rednecr" How do it know?

Verbie, I'm the same way . . I read ten -twelve books one after another, then I don't read a book for months. I don't know what it is.

PS: If you like legal drama, read The Confession by Grisham. It's good.

WV: "Billy"---that's pretty tame

i've been having problems with fiction for a few years now. i joined an online book group and i read one book and liked it. i then found that the author wrote several similar books, but they were nonfiction. i was hooked. i quit the online book group and went off on a tangent and read all that man's stuff and have since been finding all sorts of odd memoirs to read. my most recent was "some girls" about a woman who was in a harem in 1994. i also really liked "in the garden of beasts." i heard the author on fresh air and thought it was worth the read, and it was. then i also read a book about the most famous brothel in american history, and that was good too.

i recently picked up a murder mystery called "hooked on murder" b/c a woman at my prayer shawl group said i might like it. it's poorly written and i'm sticking to it, b/c i'm correcting all the mistakes as i go along. i don't think editors edit any longer. he author keeps using "has" instead of "had." glad the library owns this book, i'd want my $6.99 +tax back if i'd bought it.

I had times like that to. I also have the twitchy thing going on. I don't sit still long. Maybe it is menopause, Verb.

I keep buying books. They are in a stack by my bed. I believe I may have started all of them at least once and maybe twenty pages and then fell asleep then the next day.. I don't even remember what I read.

I haven't read a book in so long. I did lots of audio books the last few years but, this last 12 months I don't think I read a single book. Shameful.
